Introduction:
Nirma was started by a chemist
Mr.Karsanbhai Patel, who started this venture at his home and named the product
after his daughter Nirupama. Nirma washing powder was an innovative detergent
which was economical and targeted the middle and lower middle class segment of
the society. The cost difference between the existing detergent and Nirma was
more than Rs.10/- per kg back in 1969. He realised the consumer need of an
economical detergent and turned that to a demand. The advertisement
campaign ‘SABKI PASAND NIRMA’ created a wave in the consumers which shot up the
demand of Nirma.
Nirma is a phenomenon and synonymous
with Value for Money. The brand transcends the specific dynamic of any
particular product category, which is best captured in its above mission
statement - a statement of sustained innovation, an unceasing effort to deliver
better value to consumers, through better product quality.
